The CVA Afterschool Program is designed to facilitate Islamic Education to students who are born and raised living in the west.  The primary goals of our program are to establish an Islamic understanding and identity for our students based on the Quran and teaching of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).  At CVA the Islamic Studies program is designed around four main focus points:

• Iman and Ibadaah:  CVA students learn about the six articles of faith and the five pillars of Islam. These are introduced to their Islamic rights and obligations and are presented with a clear and authentic picture of how they are fulfilled.
• Islamic History and Hadith: CVA students learn stories of all the prophets as well as other stories mentioned in the Quran. Students study in detail the life of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) as well as the period of time that followed his death (approximately three decades) – the period of time that was ruled by the rightly guided Caliphates. CVA students are introduced also to stories of different companions of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) as well as other important figures throughout Islamic history.
• Islamic Character, Manners and Morals: At CVA we believe it is important that students learn about the Islamic code of morals, manners and ethics and they develop their identity and character. The selected curriculum and program focus on respect for parents, elders, teachers, kindness, cleanliness, eating habits, Islamic greetings, dressing code, manners in the mosque, good relations with people of other religions, forbidden food and drinks, and many others. CVA Students are also mentored about their actions and are counseled about wrong actions.
• Duas (supplications): At CVA we encourage students to memorize daily duas and recite them at the appropriate times.
